Final Post?

Is anyone out there?

So, it's been almost two years since I last posted here on Little Luck Tree. I was always dreaming up posts, but then so much time had passed I started to feel like my next post needed to be, you know, significant and brilliant and totally on brand with my new career and perfect and...well...that was a lot of pressure.

I kept wanting to find a way to make Little Luck Tree blend in with my new life, but I have finally come to a new realization: my time as a blogger is in the past.

I am a 100% committed, full-time, professional, working actor. I'm also writing and directing.

In order to become the best story-teller I can be, I have to give this career my full attention. It's time to officially retire here at Little Luck Tree, which is bittersweet because blogging has introduced me to wonderful new friends, inspired me, and challenged me in very fun ways.

Thank you to everyone who has ever stopped by this blog--your support has encouraged me so much throughout the years!

And if you're still out there and you want to continue to follow me along down this Hollywood road, big things are happening. You can find me on Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and my website. I hope you will.

Finally, here's a little video I made for anyone who has ever been obsessed with a cat:

Lights, Camera, Action!

Look, I have to be honest about something: having my hair and makeup done for me is really starting to spoil me.
The Dry Bar may be my new favorite place. Mimosas, massages, romantic comedys, and a gorgeous blowout? For $35? Heaven!!!

It just felt very luxurious, and I kept wondering what I was supposed to be doing other than just enjoying myself...and it kept surprising me that that was what I was supposed to be doing. After so many projects where I have to do my own hair & makeup (and scout location and hiring a crew and and and), just being able to concentrate on my performance was such a treat.

PS: The branding for The Dry Bar was spot on, too. So cute & trendy! I was just so pleased!

Fun Surprise

I shot a Jeep commercial in December and was pleasantly surprised to see it debut at the Super Bowl tonight. I've been getting messages from so many friends and loved ones congratulating me--it's been thrilling.
The timing is very appropriate, and I'll tell you why. Just last night I was telling Matt how terrifying acting is, how hard it is to be an artist and to have to ask for permission to do the work I love.

I feel like today the universe reminded me that there is no use in letting fear in my heart. "Making it" might take me years, or I could get a break out role tomorrow--there is no way of knowing, so I shouldn't waste time being afraid.

For anyone else who feels this way about creative pursuits or starting your own business, I highly recommend The War of Art. I just bought it and I read it in one day--so inspiring and enlightening!

Busy Time of Year!

So in the acting world I'm learning that you don't really get a vacation except *maybe* between Christmas and New Year's, but then you better get back quick and hit the ground running!
I came back from my snow trip and took new headshots the next day, then immediately ordered post cards and prints to get in some networking while this season's shows are still filming. I'm also taking a great workshop and getting ready to shoot my new demo reel, meanwhile prepping for and going out on auditions. So busy and unpredictable! I kind of love it.

I will say a fun part of being SAG-AFTRA is that I get to vote for the SAG Awards. I'm taking my job as voter very seriously! Yesterday I thought I was going to write some postcards whilst I watched "The Impossible", but instead I sat there in rapt attention, weeping and pulling out my hair. Amazing movie. I mean, Jennifer Lawrence is adorable in "Silver Linings Playbook", but go watch Naomi Watts and tell me there is a comparison! And I haven't even gotten to "Zero Dark Thirty" or "Rust and Bone" yet--great talents to watch!

How is your January going so far?
