What I Wore: Anthro!

After months--nay--years of dreaming, I finally bought myself an Anthropologie dress! It was love at first sight, truly.

The construction of the garment is such fine quality, and I love all the little details, like the lavender slip and the oversized buttons. Oh, and it has pockets! Be still my heart.

What I Wore: Vintage Fringe

Hello friends! I've made it to sunny California--it is definitely not fall here! Temperatures in the 90s...crazy! Is that stopping me from going into the air conditioned Starbucks for my Tall Soy Two-Pump Pumpkin Spice Latte? No. Not in the slightest.

Anyway, the nice thing about being home is raiding the closets of my mother and sisters. So here's what I'm rocking today.

What I Wore: Military & Floral

After wearing the uniform for eight years, it wasn't until today that I loved it! My sisters both have much better taste than I do, so when Forest asked if she could dress me up, I didn't hesitate. In fact, the first thing I did when I tried on her dress was look on Urban Outfitters to see if I could buy my own (alas, no such luck)...

Vintage BHG Cookbook

There are so many treasures in my grandparents' cabin--this is just one of them: Vintage BHG Cookbook circa 1950.

I wonder if I send in that subscription form if they will honor the prices--sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

Vintage Patterns

Today Matt and I enjoyed the Ellicott City historic district, where we had some coffee and lunch, meandered through fun shops, and checked out antiques.

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm perusing thrift and antique shops, I can easily get side-tracked, so I sort of have a running monologue in my mind to help me focus on what I'm trying to find (mine sounds like this: "Alice in Wonderland hardcovers, white owls, vintage patterns, blue typewriter. Alice in Wonderland hardcovers, white owls, vintage patterns, blue typewriter...")

So I was pretty excited when I found a huge basket filled with these for just $1 each!

Coffee after Dinner?

It's a common trend to serve coffee after the dessert course, but why? Coffee wakes one up--just the smell alone is more effective than the caffeine, which doesn't kick in until hours after. Is it to wake you up before you drive home from the party?

In any case, I only drink coffee as a treat, so I usually partake after dessert. For instance, after pumpkin pie tonight! Delicious coffee.
