Stripes & Floral

I'm having a lot of fun with stripes lately. This is one of my favorite new combos; it's just so bright and cheerful! A little wishful thinking on my part (as it's only in the 40s today), but spring will be here in no time, right? Right!
Both pieces from Forever21. Pearls from Express.
What are you looking forward to wearing this spring?

Good Practices: Crazy Sexy Juice

I first read about Kris Carr in VegNews magazine. The girl blew my mind. She was diagnosed with cancer and decided to turn her life around--and she turned countless lives around with her. She embraced a healthier lifestyle and created a crazy sexy empire!
The biggest takeaway I took from Kris was to start juicing it up! I encourage you to do the same. It is so easy, so healthy, and surprisingly tasty! The idea is to juice up your fruits and veggies to maximize your intake of vitamins, fiber, beta-carotene and more!

Here's a great recipe for easy, tasty juice--and it's only the beginning:

1/2 large cucumber (peeled if not organic)
1-2 apples/pears
1 head of broccoli
2 huge fistfuls (about 1/2 a bag) of spinach, romaine, or kale
3 large celery stalks
1/2 inch ginger root (or a spoonful of ginger)

Juice 'em up and squirt in some lemon juice. (If you've got picky eaters, use more fruit to sweeten it up.)

I've been drinking this daily and it gives me so much energy!

(Shhh, you can also freeze the leftover pulp and toss it into spaghetti, chili, or pizza sauce to amp up the fiber content...your kids/spouse won't even notice the difference!).

Check out the Crazy Sexy Community, drink your juice, and change your life!

What I Wore

I've been feeling a little under the weather for a few days, but today I had a bit of energy and I was ready to venture out for some food goods (by the way, I may or may not have purchased chocolate donuts from 7/11 on the way to the restaurant....). Anyway, here's what I wore:
Dress: Forever21  Boyfriend Blazer: Express  Tights: H&M  Mary Janes: EasySpirit
I love my boyfriend blazer. I wear it with everything I can.

Tutorial Tuesday: Things to do to a T-Shirt II

This week  I had fun making myself a new necklace out of an old t-shirt (hello, Project ReStyle!).
All you need are some cloth scraps, ribbon, a glue gun--and miss erika's awesome scrap flower tutorial
Make your flowers according to erika's easy step-by-step process and arrange them however you like. I wove in some black tulle to give it a little texture.
Glue two lengths of ribbon to the back of the flower arrangement--these should be as long as you'd like; they'll tie around the back of your neck. I used a fun velvet, but chunky satin would also be cool!
And voila! Easy new necklace (and more storage space in your closet!).
Thanks to erika from pinksuedeshoe for the fantastic tutorial!

Have more t-shirts to cut up? Check out my first post here!

(PS: Why has it taken me so long to discover how amazing a glue gun is??)

*Awesome* Wedding Inspiration

Okay. I am in love with this couple. Tabitha and Cynthia's wedding was so vibrant, colorful, exciting, and fun--and it looks like it was filled with all the love a couple could ever need. Yes, ladies! Yes!

Beaux Arts Photographie took so many inspiring images, it was hard to choose, so here are a ton of my favorites:
First of all, the girls looked fantastic. How amazing is that bouquet?
The stationery suite was delicious. Look at the illustrated photostrip!!
Every little DIY detail was perfection. I adore the entire creative scape.
The rest of the photos are featured on Style Me Pretty--and you can check out Tabitha's super-fun blog for her behind-the-scenes adventures leading up to the day.

Awesome, indeed!

What happens when you let a girl play with your toys

So a great thing about having a fiance who is into technology is that whenever he upgrades, I get to steal his old things. Here are a few shots of my current desktop set-up.
And here is a close-up of my wallpaper (one of my favorites pieces by Viet-My Bui. The girl is an artistic genius. The icons are courtesy of AzureSol. deviantART makes me happy!
Here is how Matt had his iMac configured (and an example of one of his typical wallpaper choices!):

Cyber Valentine

Dear Matthew,

French Toast & Flowers

A day (read: morning) in the life of a girl who loves Valentine's Day:

Valentine's Day does not have to be celebrated between lovers. I like to think of Valentine's Day as an opportunity to express any kind of love. To begin, I decided to celebrate the love I have for my Self. I began the day thusly with heart-shaped French Toast (with just a hint of vanilla--mmmm) and some fresh flowers!
Sometimes it's very delightful to have a quiet breakfast for one (one human, that is--I had some furry and feathered company).
I set up a bouquet named "Rosy Outlook" (from Trader Joe's) in the kitchen--I adore the combination of pink and red!
I placed one little rose on my meditation table (isn't the little vase brilliant? The rose will pull water up through its stem over time! A gift from my lovely aunties).
I also chose to set up two pink bouquets in the bedroom. I'm so in love with mason jars as vases--they give the arrangement a very wholesome and textured look.
So far, this February 14th is off to a bright start! What are you up to?

"Naturally Sweet" via Twig & Thistle

I adore all of Kathleen's designs, but when she posted this project on her blog, Twig & Thistle, I just couldn't resist! What a perfect way to give a Valentine--especially when you're giving them to a yoga class!

Finders Keepers

By now you may have heard about Finders Keepers; if so, you might also be finding yourself dreaming up ways to get to Vancouver! What a brilliant idea.
Jasna will be "hiding" up to 200 ceramic hearts throughout Vancouver--whoever finds them gets to keep them or give them to someone who might cherish them. The backs have her web address so she can find out where her little hearts have fluttered about. I LVE it!

I've developed a recent crush on the color pink.

Making "Valentines"

Who says Valentines have to be cards or sweets? I'm thinking art this year. Here's my first try:
I need a calligraphy paintbrush...but it's fun anyway!

Wearing Lovely Things

I am feeling very inspired by a soft color pallete and flowing fabrics, so these hair pieces by Jennifer Wood are simply breathtaking.
Aren't they perfect for a romantic picnic? Is it still too cold for a picnic? Ah, well, a girl can dream...

Check out more of these handcrafted sensations in Jennifer's etsy shop, mignonne handmade.

Valentine's Week Continues

For Day Two I thought I'd show the yummy heart-shaped brownies I baked earlier. They were quite tasty (and made with applesauce instead of butter! Sneaky!).
I think next time I'll take a leaf out of Kathleen's book and hand them out to make friends. Isn't her packaging perfect:
I wonder if I could even get my printer to attempt it. Crafts and deliciousness--joy!
