Flower Hairpiece DIY

Want to add a fun accent to a party outfit? This is such a quick project, and I love the results!
Things you'll need: Felt (one color for petals, one for leaves), embroidery thread and needle, bells, hair clip (from a local craft store), scissors, and a glue gun.
1. First, make a flower following the steps listed here in my Holiday Wreath DIY.
2. Using the hot glue gun, put a layer of glue onto the hair clip.
3. Press the clip into the back of the flower. Let it dry for ~15 minutes.
4. Wear it. Love it. It's that easy!
I'd love to see fun colored variations!

Elizabeth Gilbert

After reading Eat Pray Love and Committed, I soak up anything Ms. Gilbert has to say. This is a video for those creative folks who have ever anguished over writer's (painter's/composer's/choreographer's/etc) block. Enjoy!
Isn't she fantastic?

Does anyone else kind of feel like this?

Somehow my to do list is as long as ever, and yet...relaxing just sounds so nice, doesn't it?

Merry Christmas!

December Photo Project: Day 25

I woke up this morning to find that my sister had sometime in the night stuffed my stocking--just as I had done for her, somehow crossing paths in the dark townhouse. And now it looks like it's beginning to snow for Matt's first White Christmas!

Plus last night I tracked Santa in through Baltimore and Canada. We've got presents to open, and I have a fun blog post I'm excited to finish!

Merry Christmas!  Shannon

Mad Men

I realize I'm a bit behind here, but we've just watched the first season of Mad Men and, well, now I feel consumed with the need to dress exactly like January Jones or Christina Hendricks--every day. Forever. Oh my goodness.
How amazing are these outfits??
And the matching shoes!
I just want to wear the emerald dress for Christmas, and the champagne for New Years!
Stunning.
Available on etsy now. I'll take 7 of them.

I sense a new obsession coming on! Is it too late to change my Christmas list?

"The Christmas Rush Is Through"

Hardly!!!

December Photo Project: Day 19-23

Oh my goodness, but I do believe I am a bit behind in most of my Christmas checklist. Nobody panic!! Here are a few pictures of things I've been playing with:

My Christmas 2010 journal (peeks to come!)
My cat (my black cat, who thinks the white throw blanket basket is her bed...)
And my sister!
Isn't she cute?
I'm still quite behind with gifts (shopping and wrapping--eek!), but at least we're all having fun!

Ornament DIY Round-Up

My little tree could use some more ornaments, so I've been looking around at the fun ornament tutorials on some of my favorite blogs. Here are just a few of my picks:
Gorgeous snowflakes from Jessica. Simple and symmetrical.
I think these peppermints would look so sweet all throughout the tree. The rest of PinkSuedeShoe's blog is totally adorable too.
These little birds would make precious ornaments or gift tags--and they are free!

LOVE these. Click here for the tutorial from Jessica.
I adore Katie's eclectic balloon!
I just want to string these up! What a clever idea!

I suppose if I'll be making ornaments, I had better get cracking!

Woodland Walk

December Photo Project: Day 16-18

We went for a walk in the snowy woods today and came upon some fun wintry things!
I have few complaints about the cold when it is snowy!
