Busy Time of Year!

So in the acting world I'm learning that you don't really get a vacation except *maybe* between Christmas and New Year's, but then you better get back quick and hit the ground running!
I came back from my snow trip and took new headshots the next day, then immediately ordered post cards and prints to get in some networking while this season's shows are still filming. I'm also taking a great workshop and getting ready to shoot my new demo reel, meanwhile prepping for and going out on auditions. So busy and unpredictable! I kind of love it.

I will say a fun part of being SAG-AFTRA is that I get to vote for the SAG Awards. I'm taking my job as voter very seriously! Yesterday I thought I was going to write some postcards whilst I watched "The Impossible", but instead I sat there in rapt attention, weeping and pulling out my hair. Amazing movie. I mean, Jennifer Lawrence is adorable in "Silver Linings Playbook", but go watch Naomi Watts and tell me there is a comparison! And I haven't even gotten to "Zero Dark Thirty" or "Rust and Bone" yet--great talents to watch!

How is your January going so far?

Self Portrait #9

This is what happens when I panic and take pictures at the end of the day.

Embrace Messy Hair!

Or wear a hat.
Project 365 Day Two--I learned there is such a thing as too cold for jeans and no gloves. Oops.

What I Wore in the Snow!

Outfit Details: Jacket: Moda; Sweater: American Rag; Scarf: Korean Street Vendor; Sweater Leggings: Amazon; Socks: H&M; Snow Boots: Thinsulate

I'm not going to lie, I love my sweater leggings. So does everyone else from California to Idaho--some people tell me directly, others tell their friends within my ear shot, and then some straight up objectify within my sister's earshot. I'll take it!

We're loving our snow trip so far! Matt is always so warm, and I am always sooo cold, so it's extra fun to cuddle (as if I need an excuse!).

365 Days of Shannon

I love projects and challenges. No secret there. I think it's because after 20 years of schooling, I only know how to complete assignments, so I create them for myself! As soon as I read Elsie's invitation to do a 365 Project, I was hooked.
My goal is to take a self portrait every day in 2013. I'm hoping this will encourage me to carry cameras with me more often, learn how to use them confidently, and grow more creative with my photography composition.

In addition, it will help motivate me to wear something more than yoga clothes and a messy bun! Maybe.

Are you doing a project this year?

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, my friends!!

My New Year's Eve consisted of learning how to snow ski (I felt very close to mortality that day--I've left the mountain with a new perspective on life!), dinner for twenty-two family members followed by silly board games and home videos, desperately trying to stay awake until midnight (success thanks to PSY's Opa Gagnam Style), a champagne toast, fireworks, then desperately trying to stay awake until California midnight so I could wish my littlest sister a Happy New Year.

It was perfect.
Now, onto the champagne toast. I was inspired by this party from Hostess with the Mostess.
I placed rock candy into flat champagne glasses then poured the champagne over the candy. This worked well with our sparkling cider drinkers, too!
The candy dipped in champagne was so yummy, and the last bit of drink had crystals left in the bottom for an extra sweet finish!
What did you do for New Year's Eve?
